TheatreMasksJAMESTOWN, N.C. — Guilford Technical Community College’s Theatre Program will hold auditions on Friday, October 9 for its fall production of “Spontaneous: An Improvised Show.”

Spontaneous is a short-form improvised extravaganza featuring actors and musicians creating art — without a script — based on audience suggestions. The show will be directed by Joshua Waterstone, a GTCC theatre adjunct professor, who has an extensive background with improvisation troupes. Waterstone will train the cast in improvisation techniques and games in rehearsal.

Auditions will be held 3-4 p.m., 4-5 p.m. and 7-8 p.m. at GTCC’s Fine Arts Theatre in the Center for the Creative and Performing Arts, building H4, High Point Campus, 901 S. Main St., High Point.  Actors will be auditioning in groups at the top of the hour:  3 p.m., 4 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Auditions are open to the community. No prior improvisation experience required. Beginners are welcomed. Actors should wear comfortable clothes to move in.

Musicians please bring instruments and examples of different musical genres you can play or improvise i.e.: romance genre, horror genre, suspense, mystery, musical etc.

The production is also looking for musicians to improvise sound effects.
