GTCC CLINE OBSERVATORY TO HOST LUNAR ECLIPSE VIEWING

JAMESTOWN, N.C. — Guilford Technical Community College Cline Observatory will host a lunar eclipse viewing at 9 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 27 on GTCC’s Jamestown Campus, 601 E. Main St., Jamestown. The event is free and open to the public.

The eclipse can be viewed from anywhere the moon is visible. Telescopes are not necessary to view a lunar eclipse, but the observatory telescopes will be set up for general viewing 9 p.m. to midnight, weather permitting. Observatory staff will explain the details of the eclipse, point out constellations and show the moon and other objects seen through the telescopes.

Eclipse Timeline:

  • Partial eclipse begins at 9:07 p.m.
  • Total Eclipse begins at 10:11 p.m.
  • Mid-eclipse occurs at 10:47 p.m.
  • Total Eclipse ends at 11:23 p.m.
  • Partial Eclipse ends at 12:27 a.m.
