JAMESTOWN, N.C. — This fall semester, Guilford Technical Community College students will have the opportunity to be part of the college’s first drumline.

GTCC’s Titan Drumline will be an educational and performance-based drumline open to all GTCC students. The drumline will be offered as a new one-credit course under the Entertainment Technology program. Students will perform at various campus and community events.

Instructor Justin Johnson spearheaded the idea.

“The reason why I wanted to start the drumline was to fill the need for an educational and performance-based drumline in our area,” Johnson said. “The vision for the program is to provide an opportunity to support a local demand for such an integral and diverse style of marching arts.”

For those registered for the course, Johnson will be holding auditions for the drumline on Saturday, Aug. 6 at the Joseph S. Koury Hospitality and Careers Center auditorium on GTCC’s Jamestown Campus. The audition clinic will be held 9 a.m.-12 p.m. and in-line tryouts from 1 p.m.-4 p.m. For additional information and or audition material, please contact Justin Johnson at
