FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

DEC. 15, 2016

HIGH POINT, N.C. Guilford Technical Community College’s Theatre Program will hold auditions for an original work, “Under Construction 2017,” from 4 p.m.–8 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2017. Auditions are open to the community and will be held at the Center for Creative and Performing Arts, building H2, on GTCC’s High Point Campus, 901 S. Main St., High Point.

GTCC-logoInspired by Charles Mee’s play “Under Construction,” the (re)making project, The Neo Futurists and Frantic Assembly, GTCC is calling rappers, poets, writers, philosophers, filmmakers, photographers, visual artists, musicians, songwriters, dancers, performers and acrobats to participate in “Under Construction 2017.” The cast will create the production through rehearsals, improvisations and exercises.

“Under Construction 2017” is an opportunity for all artists to come together and form an artistic collage of today’s America. The production will be directed by GTCC theater instructor and director Joshua Waterstone.

Those wishing to audition should bring an original work of any artistic medium. For inspiration, artists can (but are not required to) use the prompt: What does America mean to me? Dancers, singers and musicians should be prepared to provide examples of their talent. Monologues also will be provided to read at the audition.

“Under Construction 2017” will be performed 7 p.m. March 30–April 1 and April 6–8, and 3 p.m. April 2 and April 9 at the Center for Creative and Performing Arts.

Guilford Technical Community College is the fourth largest of 58 institutions in the NC Community College System. GTCC serves more than 40,000 students annually from five campuses and a Small Business Center. Learn more at
