MODEL UN CLUB EARNS AWARD AT ELON CONFERENCE

JAMESTOWN, N.C. — Guilford Technical Community College’s Model United Nations Club participated in the Elon Training Crisis Conference: Contagion on Sept. 25 at Elon University. GTCC helped represent the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and worked with other schools representing the CDC, the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Republic of India, to deal with the hypothetical crisis of an unidentified pandemic.  

Senior Delegate Lindsay Pendleton of High Point, N.C. received Outstanding Delegate as Dr. Redd MD of the CDC. GTCC students Alex Gallagher,  Cherizar Crippen, Ruth Obas, Danielle Wiggins and Jamie Wharton also took part in the conference.  

Other schools that participated in the conference included Elon University and the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill.

The Model UN Club’s next competition will be Carolina’s Conference, hosted by the University of North Carolina Charlotte, on Oct. 21-23 in Charlotte, N.C.
