MODEL UN CLUB WINS THREE AWARDS

JAMESTOWN, N.C. — Three Guilford Technical Community College students in the Model United Nations Club recently claimed awards at the Carolina’s Conference hosted by the University of North Carolina Charlotte on Oct. 21-23 in Charlotte, N.C.

Students Lindsay Pendleton and Cherizar Crippen were awarded Outstanding Delegation for representing the United States in the United Nations Environmental Assembly committee, and student Zach Riddle received the Distinguished Delegate award for his representation of the United States in Security Council.

GTCC students Alex Gallagher, Ruth Obas, Jamie Wharton, Shay Maddox and Jana Carver also participated in the conference.

The Model UN Club’s next competition will be the Southern Regional Model United Nations (SRMUN) conference in Atlanta, Ga. Nov. 17-19.
